Des Plaines Daze
Its always a treat when Darst comes into town unexpected! Fresh out of work, I linked up with Sean & Vince outside of my job and they were already ready to skate a spot in front of my office! Told em we had to move on cause its too close to the money, you feel me? We loitered for a bit until Collin arrived, and decided to cruise towards Northbrook skatepark, but only taking the streets so we could see street spots. Its always a gamble to lurk randomly in hopes of finding something to skate, but Seans eagle vision was able to scout out a nice little street for us to get busy on. We parked up and scouted all the spots on the block, realizing we could get at least like 2 or 3 pieces, everybody decided to strap up. You know how the story goes, with no rubric or lacquer, we had to improvise how to get some rough ledges to slide. Moments later, Sean is already in motion to get his first clip for Free To Skate: Chicago! After a couple of tries, we already had one in the bag. I realized I had to back Sean up so I cruised down the block with Vince to work on a little theory I scouted out. A million tries later, I think I left with one I was happy with lol. We were planning on meeting up with Matthias and Jimi at Northbrook skatepark around 6:30, so time was running out for the street session. Sean and I were able to grab one more clip each, with the help of Vince filming and taking photos. Next task was to get to Northbrook on time so everyone wasn’t waiting around on us. You already know we had to stop and grab some Pumpkin Spice Lattes though!! You know its a great day when everyone wants to black out (drink alot of coffee) and I got an extra PSL!! Already warmed up and with plenty of fuel in our system, we arrived at Northbrook skatepark, to our surprise there was a local city session happening so theres plenty of bladers there! I brought the HVX in because I decided we needed to film a little throwback park edit vibe for the people. Hours later, the edit is filmed and the evening is winding towards the end. Sean was only in town for a few days, so we had to say our goodbyes for the time being but its never a long wait until we are seshing and plotting again. These are the days I appreciate on this journey, hanging out with friends, sharing laughs, drinking a lot of coffee and getting clips! Till next time ✰
